Al Albayt University
Al al-Bayt University (AABU) was established in 1992 by a Royal Decree to meet an urgent need for a new kind of university. AABU promotes the scientific, cultural, and civilized levels, work on keeping up with the technological developments in addition to following the modern directions of the higher education, encouraging the scientific research in order to carry out the applied and scientific researches. Undergraduate and graduate student enrolments at AABU are 16000 students 2000 students, respectively. AABU includes 12 Faculties, 4 Institutes and 10 Centres. The Engineering Faculty at AABU has more than 1800 undergraduate students. It's facilities include numerous laboratories that are furnished with state of the art equipment that are suitable to conduct advanced teaching and research works. The Faculty of Engineering has for undergraduate programs, which are Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Surveying Engineering, and Renewable and Sustainable Energy Engineering. To achieve its ultimate goal, AABU has established the Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences (IEES), and the Water, Environment and Arid Regions Research Centre (WEARRC). The IEES has 4 academic programs; M.Sc in Applied Science in Geology and Environment, M.Sc in Water and Environmental resources, B.Sc in Applied Science in Geology and Environment, and B.Sc in GIS and Remote Sensing. The IEES and WEARRC have several laboratories that have been provided with advanced equipments for soil analysis, water analysis, and organic compounds analysis. The WEARRC provides its services through these labs to the local companies, Jordanian universities and international agencies. IEES and WEARRC have enabled AABU to conduct several researches on the neighbouring region in the areas of groundwater, soil and environmental pollution. They carry out environmental impact assessment studies for projects that will be established in the area, and also serve the local community, governmental agencies and the private sector in conducting environmental monitoring programmes and environmental awareness campaign
